Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion (コープスパーティーⅡ Darkness Distortion) is an upcoming survival horror adventure game being co-developed by Team GrisGris and MAGES set to release for PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Fall 2024.

Combining the Japanese horror aesthetic that made the original a cult classic with immersive adventure gameplay and an updated presentation, Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion introduces players to a whole new set of horrors that will have them begging for mercy.
History[]
On August 11, 2020, MAGES Youtube channel released a "10th Anniversary of Corpse Party Blood Covered Repeated Fear release" video, showing the timeline of the Heavenly Host Saga. The end of the timeline is marked with "202X", followed by the faint words of "Darkness Distortion" and "More Corpse...", teasing a new work in development.
On February 14, 2023, an interview with the director of MAGES revealed that they had been working on a new entry of Corpse Party which they had been working on already for two years at that point.
On August 11, 2023, the official Corpse Party Twitter account officially announced the game through a poster and a new website. Series creator and writer, Makoto Kedouin later stated in a tweet that Darkness Distortion will not replace Dead Patient.
On January 1st, 2024, the official Corpse Party Twitter confirmed 2024 to be the release date of Darkness Distortion, accompanied by a photo with the tweet. The photo shows a real-life hospital with red and purple lighting. In the image, at least three things of notice can be seen: in the middle is a dark humanoid figure standing, likely a female. The next two are what seem to be the faces of ghosts that can be barely seen on the left and right side of the image, specifically in the wall and in the window of the door respectively.
On March 26th, 2024, the MAGES Youtube channel uploaded a short live action teaser. The video is filmed in a 4:3 ratio with a visual distortions not unlike VHS or analog television depicting two surgeons operating on a girl while a hooded figure chants something slowly with candles and skulls shown to be present as well implying a ritual taking place . The video cuts between several shots eventually showing what seems to be the girl's eyes turning black or filling with blood as her hands twitch. This leads to her raising from her operating table and biting one of the surgeons where the video ends.
